An evening with mythologist and storyteller Martin Shaw and novelist and poet Paul Kingsnorth exploring the role of the mythic imagination in the world today. What can myths and old stories tell us about the current global turmoil? Martin and Paul will read from their recent work and discuss the role of story in the times we find ourselves in.
Dr. Martin Shaw is a mythologist and a rites-of-passage guide from the UK. He is regarded as one of the most exciting teachers of the mythic imagination. He is co-designer (with Dr. Carla Stang) of the Myth and Ecology MA program at Schumacher college, and led the Oral Tradition course at Stanford University. Martin is also the principal teacher at the Great Mother conference in the US. Author of the award winning A Branch From The Lightning Tree, Snowy Tower, and Scatterlings: Getting Claimed in the Age of Amnesia, his translations of Gaelic poetry and folklore are widely published.
